The records in these files contain the working papers dealing with the construction of the building at 5416 S Cornell Avenue (the Denny Academic Center), but also the 5420, 5426, and 5401 buildings. They are primarily the correspondence, floor plans, memos, and minutes of the meetings of the CTU administration, the architects for Antunovich Associates, and Turner Construction Company. Also included is a set of architectural drawings for 5401, prepared by James D. Jordan, Ltd.

These records mainly comprise agendas and minutes from meetings of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools (ACTS) Common Council, which consists of the presidents and deans of ACTS member schools. There are also budgets, bylaws, correspondence, reports, mission statements, newsletters, and other documents.

These records document the Apostolic Visitation of the Vatican to CTU, 1982 – 1986. They are made up of extensive correspondence, roster of participants, schedules of meetings, critiques solicited for the design of the visitation and its Instrumentum Laboris. There is extensive correspondence between the President of CTU and the presidents of other Catholic theological schools and seminaries in the U.S.A.

Packets prepared for the apostolic visitation team by the fourteen religious communities that sent students to CTU at the time. These packets contain each community's formation handbook, sexual misconduct policy, and code of professional responsibilities, along with additional documents dealing with formation, such as admissions policies, horaria, constitutions, evaluation forms, and internet policies.
