Historical Note
Two sisters of St. Joseph from Concordia, Kansas—Sisters Margaret Nacke and Mary Savoie—gathered these testimonials from women religious who were imprisoned under Communism. These records began to arrive at Catholic Theological Union in the year 2006. They were bound, cataloged, and classified during the academic year of 2007. These testimonials now have been bound into thirteen volumes for circulation in the Paul Bechtold Library at CTU. These over two hundred testimonials have been compiled but not edited. The twelfth volume has an index with the names of the sisters, the names of the communities from which they came, and the countries in which they lived. These countries are Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia.
