Paul Bechtold notebook, 1964-1975
This document is a legal-size pad of paper, with handwritten notes in the manner of a daily log or diary. Entries are made by date; they range in length from two or three words to two or three lines. Marginalia and underlining in red ink often highlight key names or topics.
Bechtold very probably used these notes in writing his history of CTU, Catholic Theological Union at Chicago: The Founding Years, 1965-1975, History and Memoir (1993).
CTU 35th anniversary collection
Materials commemorating the 35th anniversary of CTU: a book of remembrances and the text of a lecture by Fr. Paul Bechtold.
CTU historical materials collection, 1964-1981
Handmade donor book: "The Book of Our Bonding"
Hand-lettered book containing list of CTU donors.
Hugh McElwain papers on the founding of CTU, 1965-1968

Also included is the pen used to sign the purchase contract for 5401 South Cornell Avenue.
Barack Obama at CTU newspaper clipping
A clipping from the New York Daily News, dated February 3, 2009, showing four framed pictures President Barack Obama kept on his desk, one of which shows Obama walking out of 5401 S. Cornell Ave, Chicago—one of CTU's buildings at the time. Also includes a letter from donor Fr. Lee Havey.
Gilbert Ostdiek papers, 1964-1968
These are records of the meetings prior to the establishment of CTU. The participants in these records are members of the Franciscans (Sacred Heart Province), the Passionists (Holy Cross Province), and the Servites (U.S.A. Province). These provide very detailed documentation of the major players and decisions discussed and agreed upon for the founding of CTU.
